Send a Prayer Request
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
Matthew 7:7
"Prayer" by Cindy Fuller
Prayer - what a simple yet profound act.
We are all capable of prayer at any place, in any moment. This act is so easy, you can be praying and no one even notices that you are in communion with your Creator. When I speak to people about prayer, the most common response is, “I do mean to, I just forget”. Isn’t it funny how easily we can forget to use one of the most powerful tools we have.
In Christiane Northrup’s book, Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, she says of a study on the effects of prayer: “This study was truly double-blind: neither the doctors, the nurses, nor the patients knew who was being prayed for. But the patients in a coronary intensive care unit, who were prayed for by a group who didn’t know who they were praying for, were far less likely to go into heart failure, need cardiopulmonary resuscitation, need artificial breathing, develop infection or pneumonia, or require diuretics than the patients in the unit who were not prayed for. If a drug had shown an effect this striking, it would be considered unethical not to use it. Given these benefits and the total absence of side effects of prayer, a true scientist would be fascinated with these data and want to study the effects even further.”
In Larry Dossey’s book, “Healing Words”, his preface states: “A few years ago, I was surprised to discover a single scientific study that strongly supported the power of prayer in getting well. Because I’d never heard of controlled experiments affirming prayer, I assumed this study stood alone. But did it? Somehow I could not let the matter rest, and I began to probe the scientific literature for further proof of prayer’s efficacy. I found an enormous body of evidence; over one hundred experiments exhibiting the criteria of “good science,” many conducted under stringent laboratory conditions, over half of which showed that prayer brings about significant changes in a variety of living beings. I was astonished. I had begun my search believing it would turn up little. After all, if scientific proof for the healing effects of prayer existed, surely it would be common knowledge among scientifically trained physicians. I came to realize the truth of what many historians of science have described: A body of knowledge that does not fit with prevailing ideas can be ignored as if it does not exist, no matter how scientifically valid it may be.”
Prayer is our way to connect with God and to access God’s love and light in our world.
At Inner Quest, our prayer ministry has been going strong since our inception. Every Tuesday Night, we begin with a prayer circle that calls forth the power of God to intercede on behalf of others. Weekly we have people reach out for support in their lives, and weekly we hear of the wonderful miracles that do occur.
Prayer is our life line to God, to our higher natures, to creating heaven on earth.
If I could offer one suggestion, it would be: Remember to pray! Pray for yourself, your life; pray for one another. Even if you can’t make it to join us on Tuesday Nights, you can join us in prayer. Put your prayers in our prayer basket and then include our prayer basket in your prayers. Together we can truly affect this world in which we live.
Make a commitment to spend time in prayer daily!
Prayer the greatest tool for prosperity, health and wholeness.
